Doctor refused wearing face mask, case registered: Karnataka. The Karnataka police has registered a case against a doctor on Thursday.

In fact, the doctor refused to wear a mask while shopping in a supermarket in Mangaluru. According to the police, a case has been registered under the Karnataka Epidemic Act on Dr Srinivas Kakkilaya.

A video has gone viral on social media in which when Dr. Srinivas was asked to wear a mask, he is seen arguing with the staff at the billing counter in the supermarket.

Mangaluru City Police Commissioner N Shashi Kumar said, ‘Dr Srinivas started arguing with the shopkeeper, refusing to wear the mask.

He was also questioned for guidelines. A case has been registered against it. He further said, ‘Today the shopkeeper has come to the police station and has filed a case against the doctor.

We have registered this case under the Karnataka Pandemic Act, 2020. Since the onset of the epidemic last year, wearing masks in public places has been made mandatory.

According to official numbers, the state currently has 5,75,049 active cases.

In view of the increasing number of black fungus in many states, the Telangana government on Thursday declared it an epidemic in its state.

It has been classified as a notable disease in the state under the Epidemic Diseases Act 1897.
