Congress Seats In Rajya Sabha Will Decrease

Congress seats in Rajya Sabha will decrease, Anand Sharma’s return difficult, the party will suffer in Punjab and Assam.

The biennial elections for 13 Rajya Sabha seats going to be held this month are looking very difficult for Congress.

Due to the weakening position of the party in the states, the figure and incidence of Congress seats in the Upper House are fixed.

In the present circumstances, it is difficult for the party to send Anand Sharma, Deputy Leader of Opposition in the Rajya Sabha, to the House again.

There is definitely scope for the party to bring back former Defense Minister AK Antony from Kerala.

If the exit poll predictions are correct, then the biggest setback for the Congress in this Rajya Sabha election will come from Punjab, where it will be difficult for it to get even one seat out of five seats.

In Punjab, elections for three seats will be held simultaneously and for two seats simultaneously. In the election of three seats, according to the exit poll estimates, Congress may get one seat.

But in the separate election of two seats, no seat will come into Congress’s account.

Whereas in these five seats, Congress currently has two seats of Pratap Singh Bajwa and Shamsher Singh Dullo and the term of both is ending.

A seat in Himachal Pradesh, which is falling vacant due to the completion of Anand Sharma’s term, will this time go to the ruling BJP.

In such a situation, there is no scope for a comeback for Sharma, who was one of the prominent leaders of the dissatisfied group of Congress.

One seat in Nagaland is set to go to the ruling regional party NPP.

Similarly, BJP will get one seat in Tripura and one seat in Nagaland will go to the ruling regional party NPP.

The two seats in Assam where elections are being held were currently in the account of Congress and the term of both the party’s MPs Rani Narah and Ripun Bora is ending.

In the current state of the state assembly, Congress cannot get even one of these two seats on its own.

But if Congress takes cooperation from Badruddin Ajmal’s party AIUDF in the Rajya Sabha elections, then there can be a possibility of getting a seat.

Of the 13 Rajya Sabha seats that will go to the polls, six are currently with Congress. But at present only one seat in Kerala is confirmed for the Congress.

If there is political manipulation in Assam, then one seat can be got from Punjab and that means the party can win only three seats instead of its current six.
