CJI Is Quite Upset With The Govt Handling Of Kisan Agitation
CJI is quite upset with the Govt handling Of Kisan Agitation. Hearing in Supreme Court on Kisan agitation, CJI’s proposal – stop the law immediately.
During the hearing on the petitions related to the farmers’ movement in the Supreme Court, the Chief Justice is quite upset with the government.
On behalf of the government, the court said that the central government and farmer organizations met recently, in which it has been decided that the discussion will continue and through this, a solution will be found.
The Chief Justice expressed displeasure over this and said that we are not happy with the way the government is trying to resolve the issue.
We do not know what you did before passing the law. The Supreme Court said that we propose that a committee be formed to address the issues of farmers.
We also propose that the implementation of the law be stopped. You can plead on this.
To this, Attorney General KK Venugopal said that the court cannot stay the law until it is found that the law has passed without legislative competence and the law violates fundamental rights.
The court said that you (center) have not handled it properly, we will have to take some action today. The CJI then asked if the laws could not be stopped from being implemented for some time.
On this, the CJI said that we are not saying that anyone who breaks the law will be protected. If someone breaks the law, then action should be taken against him according to the law.
Our aim is to prevent violence from happening. After this, the Attorney General said that the farmers had planned to take out a tractor march on Rajpath on the occasion of Republic Day.
Its purpose is to disrupt the Republic Day parade. This will harm the image of the country. However, farmers advocate Dushyant Dave said that nothing like this is going to happen.
No tractor will run on Rajpath on Republic Day. We are not in favor of any kind of violence. We should only be allowed to visit Ramlila Ground.
The CJI said that some people have also committed suicide during this movement, old and women are part of the protest.
What the hell is going on? Not a single petition has been filed so far, which says that these agricultural laws are good.
The Chief Justice said that we are not asking the government to withdraw the law. We just want to know how to handle it.
Do not insist on the implementation of the law. Then start talking. We have also done the research. Want to create a committee.
The government told the Supreme Court that 41 farmers’ organizations are demanding withdrawal of the law, or else asking for the release of the agitation.
The court said that if something went wrong, each one of us would be responsible. We do not want anyone to bleed at our hands.
The CJI said that if the Center does not want to stop the implementation of agricultural laws, we will stop it.
The court asked the agitators’ counsel that you do not want to end the agitation, you can continue it.
In this situation, we want to know that if the law stops, will you change the place of agitation till the report comes, or will continue to perform where you are.
Explain that in the last hearing, the top court had suggested that the laws be put on hold for some time.
Apart from this, a suggestion was made to form a committee to remove differences between the government and agitating farmers.
Talks between the farmers’ organizations and the government have not yet been resolved. Farmers are adamant about the demand to repeal agricultural laws.
However, the Central Government has not yet given up hope of finding a solution through dialogue. On January 15, there is a 9th round meeting between farmer organizations and the government.
Delhiites will not get relief from cold wave yet, dense fog in these states including Punjab, UP, Haryana
Actually, without ending the law, the farmers’ organizations are not ready to end the sit-in demonstration. The government is in favor of reforming the laws, not repealing them.
This screw is stuck here. Today, a bench headed by Chief Justice SA Bobde will hear the petitions.
This hearing becomes more important because the next round of talks between the government and farmer organizations is to be held on 15 January.
The Supreme Court had said during the previous hearing that there was no progress at the grassroots level to end the farmers’ performance.
Whereas, the Center had told the court that its positive talks are going on with the farmers to resolve the case.
The government also said that a consensus is expected to be reached between the two sides soon on all issues. Only after this, the top court adjourned the hearing in the case till January 11.
