Officials said that CBI teams from Delhi and Mumbai reached Nagpur on Friday night and started searches on Saturday morning.

These 12 locations are either residences or office premises of Deshmukh’s chartered accountants, an official said.

CBI raids on 12 locations: ED made this claim.

Deshmukh was arrested by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) on November 1 last year and is currently in judicial custody.

The CBI had launched an investigation against Deshmukh on April 21, 2021, after registering an FIR against the NCP leader on charges of alleged corruption.

The ED’s case is that Deshmukh while being the state’s home minister, through the then assistant police inspector Sachin Vaze had siphoned off various bars and restaurants in Mumbai.

The ED claimed that the money was diverted to the Nagpur-based Sri Sai Shikshan Sansthan, an educational trust controlled by the Deshmukh family.

Significantly, the dismissed API of Mumbai Police, Sachin Wajhe has written a letter to the Enforcement Directorate.

In this, he has expressed his desire to become a government witness in the money laundering case registered by the central agency against former Maharashtra Home Minister Anil Deshmukh and others.

Vaze is currently in judicial custody in connection with the Antilia bombing case. He is also accused of the money laundering case in which Deshmukh has been arrested.

In a letter to ED Assistant Director Taseen Sultan, he has said that he voluntarily wants to tell the truth in this case before a competent magistrate and wants to tell everything that he knows.

In another development related to the same case.

The ED on Wednesday opposed Deshmukh’s bail plea before the special court. The probe agency said that the petition has no merit and should be dismissed.
