BSF Increased Vigilance, In View Of Elections In Bengal And Assam

BSF increased vigilance on the border, In view of elections in Bengal and Assam, not good for anti-social elements.

The Border Security Force (BSF) has also increased its vigilance on the Indo-Bangladesh international border in view of the assembly elections in the border states of Bengal and Assam.

Pankaj Kumar Singh, Additional Director General (ADG) of Eastern Command of BSF said that we have tightened the surveillance on the border so those anti-social elements could not spread any disturbances from across the border.

We are keeping a close watch. Officers and soldiers posted on the border have been given necessary instructions in this regard.

He told that there are about 250 such villages which are situated next to the fencing on the border. Also, in many areas, border fencing has not been started.

Apart from this, the large area is the river line border, that is, the middle of the border from where many rivers pass, through which there is a continuous effort to carry out illegal activities.

In such a situation, security becomes more challenging. In view of this, no one could disturb the cross-border nuisance in the election, we could not carry weapons around.

So for now we have increased the surveillance considerably. Here, the BSF’s move to create disturbances in the election is not good for the anti-social elements this time.

Use of specialized dogs and state-of-the-art technology in border protection

BSF ADG said that we are also using specially trained dogs and state-of-the-art technology for border security. The border is also being monitored with high-resolution night vision cameras and other equipment so that no one can infiltrate our border illegally.

The border of both the states is bordering Bangladesh. Bangladesh has a total border of 4,096 km with India, whose security is vested with the BSF Eastern Command.

These include 2,216 km from Bengal alone and 263 km from Assam which is very sensitive for security and this border area has been infamous for infiltration, smuggling, and illegal activities.

However, BSF, engaged in border security, has curbed the smuggling, smuggling, and illegal activities to a great extent by doing duty day and night in very challenging conditions.

We are ready in every way

On the other hand, when asked about the role of BSF in the work related to Bengal Assembly elections, BSF ADG Singh said that it depends on the Central Election Commission.

We are always ready by our side. We will be ready at all times according to the instructions of the Election Commission and according to their need.

Let us tell that assembly elections are to be held in Bengal and Assam in April and May this year. Recently a full bench of the Election Commission under the leadership of Chief Election Commissioner Sunil Arora also visited Kolkata to take stock of the election preparations in Bengal.

The full bench held a meeting here with the top administrative officials of the state and DM-SP of all the districts regarding law and order situation and security preparedness. During this time, the Commission gave many guidelines to the officers.
