Bandh called for a protest against the agriculture bill, farmers on the streets: Karnataka. Protests by farmers across the state have started in Karnataka on Monday on the agriculture bill. In view of this, the police force is already deployed in Kalburgi.
Farmers here today are protesting against the amendment in the Agriculture Bill, Land Reforms Ordinance, Agricultural Produce Market Committee (APMC), and labor laws, so police force was already deployed as a precaution.
Pro-Kannada activists and farmers staged a protest in front of Puttanchetti Town Hall against agricultural bills.
It is worth noting that earlier on Friday, farmers across the country had shut down Bharat Bandh in protest against the Agriculture Bill. During this time, the farmers took to the streets and expressed their opposition.
The maximum impact of the Bharat Bandh was seen in Punjab, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, and Tamil Nadu. During this time many political parties were also seen supporting the farmers. These included several parties including Congress, RJD, Samajwadi Party, Akali Dal, TMC.
In Bihar, RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav took out a tractor rally in protest against the bill, while Congress leaders Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi tweeted and registered their support with the farmers. Apart from this, farmers stayed on the railway tracks and stopped trains as part of the three-day rail roko campaign in Punjab.
Kerala: Congress MP Beni Behan resigns as UDF convenor
Congress MP Beni Behanan disassociated himself from the post of convenor of the Congress-led United Democratic Front (UDF) on Sunday. In his resignation letter to opposition leader and UDF President Ramesh Chennithala.
Behanan said, ‘I resign here as the UDF convenor, which I have been holding since September 20, 2018. I ask you to take the necessary steps in this regard at the earliest. Behanan told a leading news agency that he has informed the Congress (Central) leadership of his resignation.
At the same time, he told that no one has yet demanded my resignation. He says that I had suggested to Kerala Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC) High Command to appoint MM Hasan as UDF convenor. It will be decided soon.
