Afghanistan Assures India: No Threat Amid Taliban-Pakistan War
Afghanistan Assures India: Taliban assures India that Afghanistan will not become a security threat amid escalating tensions with Pakistan. Bilateral talks in Dubai mark a fresh start in relations.

Two days ago, India strongly condemned the attack on Afghanistan by Pakistan. Aamir Khan Muttaqi, the Taliban government’s acting foreign minister, has now met with Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri. This meeting took place in Dubai. This is the first meeting of the Indian Foreign Secretary with the Foreign Minister there after the Taliban took power in August 2021.
Afghanistan Assures India: There will be a fresh start
Muttaqi has assured that his government is sensitive to India’s security concerns. Bilateral issues were discussed in the meeting. There are clear indications that the work on Indian projects in Afghanistan which had stopped after the arrival of the Taliban can now be started afresh.
India can also send new consignments of food grains, and medicines to Afghan citizens. It will also help in settling the refugees returning from Pakistan in Afghanistan. This meeting of Misri and Muttaqi took place at a time when Afghanistan’s relations with Pakistan deteriorated.

The two nations are at war with one another.. Pakistan has attacked some areas of Afghanistan saying that there are terrorist hideouts there. There have been numerous reports of women and children being slain in this. After this, the Afghan government has also attacked some border areas of Pakistan.
It should also be remembered that after ousting former PM Sheikh Hasina from power in Bangladesh, the way Pakistan is engaged in increasing its activities there, in such a situation, India’s growing closeness with the Taliban government of Afghanistan can have far-reaching effects.

When the Taliban captured power in August 2021, there was celebration in Pakistan and there was an atmosphere of disappointment in India’s diplomatic camp. Now the tables seem to be turning.
Meeting with Taliban minister
The Afghan side demonstrated during the meeting that it was sensitive to India’s security concerns. Foreign Ministry spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal said that all issues related to bilateral and mutual relations were discussed in this meeting between the foreign secretary and the foreign minister of Afghanistan.
Chabahar Port was also discussed
The status of humanitarian aid and development projects provided by India was discussed. An agreement was reached on increasing mutual trade, including the use of the Chabahar Port. India will help Afghanistan in the health sector and in settling refugees coming from outside.
