Adani Agri: We Do Not Buy Grain From Farmers
Adani Agri: We do not buy grain from farmers, nor are we acquiring land for contract farming.
Adani Agri Logistics has made its stand on the propaganda against him. The company has said that it does not buy any grain from farmers.
The company manufactures silos just for storing grains. The company said that the Food Corporation of India (FCI) had invited a global tender in the year 2005 to make silos for storing grains.
It was attended by dozens of companies from all over the world and Adani secured the construction of silos with the lowest bid.
The company provides a storage facility to FCI and charges it against it. In such a situation, it is totally wrong to look at it by linking it with the recently enacted agricultural laws.
Puneet Mendiratta, vice-president of Adani Agri Logistics, said that this propaganda is being carried out against us that we already knew that the government was going to bring agricultural legislation.
Therefore, we had already constructed silos in Moga district of Punjab, where food grains could be stored.
The truth is that there is a huge shortage of storage infra in developing countries like India. Due to lack of storage facilities, a lot of grain gets spoiled and is not edible.
He said that the company has been working in this field for a decade and a half and is providing services to FCI.
According to Mendiratta, the Adani Group also has no intention of contracting in the future. It is not even acquiring land for this.
He said that Adani Agri Logistics only works for the storage and transportation of food grains, FCI does the work of purchasing food grains from farmers.
Mehndiratta said, “The company does not do any contract farming work nor does the company have any such intention in future.
It is also being wrongly alleged that the company is acquiring land in Punjab and Haryana for contract farming.
“He further said,” Adani Agri Logistics only works for storage and transportation of food grains, directly from farmers Does not work to buy food grains.
There are at least a dozen such companies in India, which are involved in the storage or transportation of grains. Adani Agri is one of those dozen companies. ‘
