MR Arjun And Dhruv Kapila Pair Reached In Pre-quarterfinals

Indian men’s doubles team MR Arjun and Dhruv Kapila reached the pre-quarterfinals of the BWF World Championships.
At the same time, in women’s singles, Ashwini Ponnappa and N Sikki Reddy were out after losing.
The unseeded pair of Arjun and Kapila defeated eighth seeds Kim Astrup and Anders Skarup Rasmussen of Denmark 21-17, 21-16. Now they will face Singapore’s Yong Terry and Loh Keen Heen.
Ponnappa and Sikki were defeated by top seeds Chen Qing Chen and Jia Yi Fan of China 21-15, 21-10 in 42 minutes.
The pair of Pooja Dandu and Sanjana Santosh also lost to third seed Korea’s Lee So Hee and Shin Seung-chan.
On Wednesday evening, HS Prannoy, Kidambi Srikanth will challenge in men’s singles while Satwik Sairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty in men’s doubles and Trisa Jolly-Gayatri Gopichand in women’s doubles.
India’s young badminton player Lakshya Sen reached the pre-quarterfinals by defeating Spain’s Luis Penalver in straight games.
Commonwealth Games champion Sen registered a 21-17, 21-10 win in 72 minutes. After going down 3-4 at one point, ninth seed Sen made a spectacular comeback to take a 13-7 lead with six points.
He continued this rhythm and won the first game. World Championship bronze medalist Lakshya did not allow his opponent to make a comeback in the second game as well.
Double success for India in IBSF World Junior Snooker.
India’s Anupama Ramachandran and Keerthana Pandian won silver and bronze medals respectively in the under-21 women’s section of the IBSF World Junior Snooker Championship being held in Bucharest, Romania.
Ramachandran was defeated 4-1 by Thailand’s Panchaya Chanoi in the final.
On the other hand, Pandian, who lost 3-0 to Chanoi, had to be content with the bronze medal. The Sports Authority of India (SAI) congratulated both the players.
