YAAS Cyclonic Storm Will Be Seen On Wednesday
YAAS cyclonic storm will be seen on Wednesday, strong wind and heavy rain continues; Red and Orange Alert in Odisha: Cyclone Yaas Live Updates.
Cyclonic storm Yas is expected to pass through the northern Odisha-West Bengal coast between Paradip and Sagar Island near Balasore in Odisha.
This information has been given by the India Meteorological Department, IMD on Tuesday. It has started raining in Digha, West Bengal.
The cyclone YAAS is expected to pass through here on Wednesday. In view of the risk of rain in many areas of Odisha, a red and orange alert has been issued.
According to IMD Bhubaneswar, wind speeds in Jagatsinghpur, Kendrapara, Bhadrak, and Balasore will be 150-160 kmph. Dhamra and Paradip have been warned in view of the danger.
A red alert has been issued due to heavy rains in Kendrapada, Bhadrak, Jagatsinghpur, Balasore of Odisha for today and tomorrow. An orange alert has been issued in Mayurbhanj, Jajpur, Cuttack, Khorda, and Puri.
NDRF deployed at Paradip port, 5 relief camps set up.
A team of NDRF has been deployed in Paradip in view of YAAS cyclonic storm . The chairman of Paradip Port Trust said that preparations have been made at Paradip Port in view of the cyclone.
All the ships that were at the port have already been sent to a safe place. For the people affected by the cyclone, 5 shelters are being built at the port which will have all kinds of facilities.
Uma Shankar Das, the senior scientist at IMD Bhubaneswar, said, ‘The current state of severe cyclonic storm Yas lies in the Bay of East Central and West Central Bengal.
During the last 6 hours, it is moving towards the northwest direction at a speed of 10 km per hour. It is 320 kilometers in the south and south-east direction of Paradip and 430 kilometers in the south, southeast of Balasore.
Tomorrow afternoon it is likely to make landfall between Paradip and Sagar islands and Chandbali and Dhamra.
It Will be terrible in 12 hours.
IMD forecast on Tuesday that the storm could take a severe form in the next 12 hours. A bulletin issued today by the IMD stated, “A severe cyclone YAAS from east-north Bay of Bengal is moving northwestwards at a speed of 9 kmph.
In the next 12 hours, it may become more severe. On the morning of Wednesday, May 26, it will reach close to the coast of West Bengal and Odisha.
Balasore residents reached relief camps.
Chandipur in Odisha is also receiving heavy rains. According to the Meteorological Department, on May 26, the cyclone will hit the Balasore coast and landfall could occur here.
In view of the possibility of cyclones, the work of evacuating people from Balasore district to relief camps built in Chandipur is in progress. Balasore’s BDO Narendra Khamri gave this information.
He told that this work will be completed by this afternoon. BDO further stated, ‘We will shift all the people to temporary shelters centers built in school and college by noon.
Arrangements for food and drink have been made for everyone there. Arrangements have been made according to the Covid Guidelines there. There is an appeal from the people to reach the nearest safe houses.
Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik said on Monday, ‘In this challenge of cyclone Hurricane YAAS with Corona crisis, it is a priority to save people’s lives.
I urge all the people in the storm-affected areas to cooperate with the administration and go to relief camps.
It is noteworthy that by Wednesday morning, on the morning of 26 May, YAAS will reach coastal areas of Bengal and North Odisha in its cyclonic storm, in the afternoon pass between Baldeor between Paradip in Odisha and Sagar Island of Bengal.
Naval, Air Force, and Central agencies including the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) and the governments of Bengal and Odisha have started preparations on a war footing to deal with this cyclone.
The Navy has prepared four warships and some aircraft for relief operations, while the Air Force will also be on standby with 11 transport aircraft and 25 helicopters.
