WHO appreciated the ongoing corona vaccination in India, also discussed the vaccine.

On Tuesday, talks were held between Union Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya and World Health Organization (WHO) Director-General Dr. Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus on several issues.

Union Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya discussed various health-related issues with the Director-General of WHO.

He appreciated the massive efforts taken by the Government of India for vaccination against COVID-19.

More than 99 crore doses of Covid-19 vaccines have been given in India till 8 am on Wednesday and the country is about to cross 100 crore doses.

WHO appreciated the ongoing corona vaccination: The Center has appealed to the states to focus on the second dose given the availability of a sufficient number of vaccines.

WHO chief Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus also discussed the issue of emergency use of Bharat Biotech’s Covid-19 vaccine, Covaxine, on a global scale during a telephonic conversation with Health Minister.

Simultaneously, the issue of resuming the supply of the AstraZeneca vaccine manufactured by the Serum Institute of India to the Covax facility was discussed in this telephone conversation.

Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya tweeted – Had a detailed conversation with Dr. Tedros, Director-General of WHO on various issues related to health.

During this, other senior officials of WHO were also present. The Director-General of WHO has praised the great efforts of the Government of India in the Covid-19 vaccination.

18 percent reduction in new cases of corona infection in India, number of deaths also decreased: WHO

The World Health Organization has said that in the month of October, there has been a decrease of 18 percent in new cases of corona infection in India, while the causes of death have decreased by 13 percent.

This figure is from 11 to 17 October. WHO has highlighted the situation of corona in all regions globally.

The weekly update on COVID-19 released by the World Health Organization on Tuesday said the global figures remained the same as last week.

According to the report, an increase of seven percent was registered in the number of new cases in European countries.

The current figures are just over 2.7 million new cases and over 46,000 new deaths during the week of October 11 to 17.

At the same time, apart from this, new cases of infection have decreased in all other countries. The largest decline has been recorded in African countries.

There has been a decrease of 18 percent in new cases here. After this, 16 percent fewer cases have been reported in the Eastern Pacific region.

Apart from this, the highest reduction in the number of deaths due to corona has also been recorded in African countries by 25 percent.
