War is not a solution to the problem, solve the issue through dialogue: India’s statement in UNSC meeting on Russia-Ukraine dispute.
The ongoing dispute between Russia and Ukraine has now reached its peak. On Monday, Putin recognized areas held by Russian-backed rebels in the Donbas region of eastern Ukraine.
Putin then ordered the Defense Ministry to send Russian troops to Donetsk and Lugansk, both separatist regions of eastern Ukraine. The whole development has only increased the threat of a Russian attack.
The US is moving its embassy from western Ukraine to Poland in view of the threat of war. Earlier he had brought the embassy from Kyiv to Lviv.
The United Nations has also expressed concern over the current situation and called a meeting. Meanwhile, all European countries including America are trying to avert the threat of war.
India has also made its stand clear on the whole matter. Reiterating its stand on the latest crisis in Ukraine, India said that both sides should work together to find a solution through diplomatic means.
At the UNSC meeting on Ukraine, India’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations T.S. Tirumurti said that we call on all parties to exercise restraint.
We believe that this issue can be resolved only through diplomatic dialogue. The safety of citizens is essential.
More than 20,000 Indian students and citizens live and study in different parts of Ukraine and border areas. The safety of Indians is our priority.
The growing tension on Ukraine’s border with Russia is a matter of deep concern. These developments have the potential to undermine the peace and security of the region.
Britain and America in the UNSC meeting.
Britain has said at the UNSC meeting that Russia should withdraw its decision that recognized the two parts of Ukraine as a separate country.
