Wakaalat From Home Review: Comedy With ‘lockdown’ In Corona
Wakaalat From Home Review: Comedy with ‘lockdown’ in Corona era, laughs ‘unlock’. Everybody has a wrinkle in the Corona era. There is a variety of pressure all around. Meanwhile, some artists have brought home a web series by shooting. The web series, released on Amazon Prime Video, is titled ‘Wakaalat From Home’.
This series on video calls and divorce is a great example of how entertainment can be continued through cinema in bad circumstances. This is also how a light-hearted comedy unlocks the mind. Kul Milakar Anubhav Pal’s writing and acting by Sumit Vyas, Nidhi Singh, Gopas Dutt, and Kubra Sait together give a sweet, simple comedy dose.
story
The story of the web series revolves around the four people. Shujin, Radhika, Loba Tripathi and Rajni Takkar. Shujin is trapped in lockdown away from his wife Radhika. Radhika feels that he is cheating on her. At the same time, Shujin thinks his wife is lesbian.
In this case, both of them petition for a divorce case. Shujin chooses Rajni as a lawyer. At the same time, Lobo Tripathi becomes Radhika’s lawyer. There is a flat in between all of them, which will be looked at by everyone. The hearing of the case of Kovid-19 goes online, which is to be sent to the judge. Telling the story ahead of it will become spoiled.
What felt special
The concept is the most special. Earlier videos and series on YouTube have been shot at home. Much has been seen during the lockdown as well. But the new series of Amazon Prime Video has served this concept in a completely different way. Nowhere do you think it was shot at home. It also has the merit of actors, who have technically given such a good performance.
The web series is about to attract the star cast anyway. Nidhi Singh (Radhika) and Sumit Vyas (Shujin) have previously appeared together in permanent roomments. There is a flow in the acting of both. Amidst all this, Kuku from Sacred Games ie Kubra Sait (Rajni) is back with absolutely fresh acting. But the most noticed among all this is Gopal Dutt in the character of Lobo Tripathi. He has looked absolutely natural.
Anubhav Pal’s writing is also excellent. It is also special that in the series there is no opportunity to do more than writing. It is very difficult to produce situational comedy in front of the camera without moving. Comedy itself is quite a difficult genre. His writing brings a lot of standup feeling, which also laughs according to jokes’ timing and punch.
The web series is shortened. An episode in a series of 10 episodes is 15 minutes. In this case it does not put a load on you. Rohan’s direction is also correct. Have managed to use small things.
Where is the deficiency
Working on the new concept in lockdown is a big thing in itself. However, you will see some drawbacks after this. For example, at some places you may find the acting of Nidhi Singh mild. Kubra’s Flow breaks in a few episodes in between. Also, despite the episode being short, the lawyer and her husband’s flot in the middle seems to have tried to pull it off.
