Sudan conflict: Agreement made between the army and paramilitary force in Sudan, the ceasefire will be applicable from 4 to 11 May.

A seven-day ceasefire has been agreed between the army and the paramilitary force RSF in war-torn Sudan.

South Sudan’s Foreign Ministry in Juba said in an official statement on 2 May that the ceasefire would be in force from 4 to 11 May.

Let us tell you that at present there is a fight going on between the army and a paramilitary group to capture power in Sudan.

So far more than 400 people have been killed in this war and more than three lakh people have been displaced.

Seven-day truce.

The Foreign Ministry further said that in a telephone conversation with South Sudanese President Salwa Kiir Mayardit, the two warring sides agreed to a ceasefire from May 4 to May 11.

General Mohamed Hamdan Dagalo, the leader of the Sudan Armed Forces (SAF) and Rapid Support Forces (RSF), has agreed in principle to a ceasefire. He has also agreed to name his representatives for the talks.

President Salva Kiir urged the leaders.

President Salva Kiir has urged Sudanese leaders to name their representatives and propose a date for the start of talks as soon as possible.

Let us tell you that Salwa is also the leader of the group of the IGAD Assembly of Heads of State holding consultations with the Sudanese leaders.

President Kiir told Sudanese leaders that the rapidly deteriorating humanitarian situation in Khartoum has added to tensions.

The Acting Foreign and International Ministers have also been in touch with their counterparts at the regional and international levels.

The acting minister discussed issues of the ceasefire and the humanitarian situation with the foreign ministers of Egypt, Uganda, Kenya, and Canada, as well as the British Secretary of State at the Foreign, Commonwealth, and Development Office.

India launched Operation Kaveri.

There is heavy bloodshed in Sudan due to the conflict between the army and paramilitary forces. India is running Operation Kaveri to bring its citizens to India safely.

According to the Ministry of External Affairs, around 3000 overseas Indians have reached the country.
