TVF’s Web Series Aspirants Tops The IMDb Best Of India 2021

TVF’s web series Aspirants tops the IMDb Best Of India 2021 list, leaving behind ‘The Family Man 2’, Bhuvan Bam’s entry too.

The boom of OTT platforms during the Coronavirus pandemic in 2020 continued this year as well and the popularity of web series on various platforms continued and many great series was released.

The second season of some web shows also came. Now that the year 2021 is about to go, let’s have a look at the web series released this year, which gained a lot of popularity.

These results are shocking because there are some web series in this list, about which the audience would not have expected that it will make it to the top 10 list.

This list has been released by IMDb under Best of India 2021. In this list, the web series released from January 1 to November 29 has been taken and whose rating has been more than 6.5.

In terms of popularity, TVF’s web series Aspirants was in the first place. This web series is about three friends Abhilash, Gauri, and SK, who are preparing for Public Service Commission exam.

All three live in Rajendra Nagar, Delhi. Naveen Kasturia, Sunny Hinduja, Shivkit Singh Parihar, and Abhilash Thapliyal played the lead roles in this series.

The second place went to Bhuvan Bam’s web series Dhindora, which was released on his YouTube channel BB Ki Vines.

In this series, Bhuvan comes with all the characters who have been seen in his various episodes. The special thing is that many well-known Bollywood actors made special appearances in Dhindora.

In third place was the second season of Amazon Prime Video’s series The Family Man. It is included in this year’s successful web series, which was waiting.

Apart from Manoj Bajpayee and Sharib Hashmi, this time Samantha Prabhu was part of the lead cast. Samantha’s negative character was well-liked and she also received awards for it.

In fourth place was The Last Hour. This crime thriller series also came on Prime. Sanjay Kapoor and Shahana Goswami played lead roles in the series.

Set in the northeastern state of India, the specialty of this series was that except for a few main characters, most of the actors were local, due to which the authenticity of the series remained.

The fifth spot went to Sunil Grover starrer Sunflower, which aired on ZEE5. This is a murder-mystery series, in which Sunil played the role of a salesman. The series was directed by Vikas Bahl.

The web series Candy, which came on Voot in sixth place, was Candy. Ronit Roy and Richa Chadha played lead roles in this thriller series.

The seventh-place went to Netflix’s anthology series Ray, which starred KK Menon, Manoj Bajpayee, Harshvardhan Kapoor, and Ali Fazal as the lead actors of all four stories.

Disney Plus Hotster’s period web series eclipsed eighth place. Pawan Malhotra, Vamika Gabbi, Anshuman Pushkar, and Zoya Hussain played the lead roles in this web series made on Chaurasi Novel.

The series was in controversy before its release.

The Tamil thriller web series November Story took ninth place. This series also came on Disney Plus Hotstar.

Mumbai Diaries was 26/11 in the tenth place. The series, which airs on Disney Plus Hotstar, highlights the role of doctors during the Mumbai attacks.

The series starred Mohit Raina, Konkona Sen Sharma, Shreya Dhanwantri, Satyajit Dubey, Natasha Bhardwaj, Tina Desai, Mrinmayi Deshpande, Prakash Belawadi, and Mishal Raheja in lead roles.

Commenting on the presence of Prime shows in the top 10 list, Country Head Gaurav Gandhi said, “We are focused on bringing great stories to our customers in India and across the globe.”

“We know that good content transcends language or geographic boundaries are reflected in IMDb’s list of Top 10 Movies and Web Series for 2021.”
