Third accused arrested in gang-rape case, three out of five accused are minors: Hyderabad.

Police have arrested three accused in the gang rape in Hyderabad, the capital of Telangana.

Earlier, Deputy Commissioner of Police (West Zone) Joel Davis said in a press conference on Friday that the suspect Saaduddin Malik has been arrested by the police.

Police said three of the five people identified are minors.

Addressing the press conference, the DCP said that the police have identified five culprits as per the CCTV footage and the statement of the victim. Three of them are minors.

The Deputy Commissioner of Police said that the victim could not reveal anything about the culprits. He revealed only one name and immediately special teams were formed to nab him.

He further said that the police have identified a teenage boy and his location has been traced.

However, as per the law, minors cannot be apprehended during the night. “I hope we will be able to catch the minors tomorrow (Saturday),” Davis said.

Earlier, several news reports said that Telangana Home Minister Mohd Mahmood Ali’s son was involved in the said incident. However, the Telangana Police rejected such claims.

“Out of the five criminals who have been identified, three are minors. One of the accused, Saduddin Malik, has been arrested. The allegation that the Home Minister’s son-in-law was involved as baseless.”

The victim was assaulted.

The security footage, which is going viral on social media, purportedly shows the girl standing with the suspected assailants outside the pub where she met them.

The boys had offered to drop her home. Instead, he was assaulted inside a parked car in the city. Her assailants took turns raping her while others stood guard outside the car.

A 17-year-old girl, who was returning home after a party, was allegedly gang-raped in Hyderabad’s Jubilee Hills area on May 28.

The matter came to light when the minor girl’s father lodged a police complaint regarding the incident.
