Tamil Is God’s Language: Madras High Court

Tamil is God’s Language, hymns of saints like Ajwar should be anointed in temples – Madras High Court.

Describing Tamil as the ‘language of God’, the Madras High Court on Monday said that every language spoken by the people is the language of God.

The court said that the consecration of the deity in temples across the country should be done through Tamil hymns composed by Tamil saints like Ajvar and Nayanmar and compositions of Arunagirinathar.

The hearing was held on a petition seeking the anointing of the deity by a Tamil saint’s composition at a temple in the state’s Karur district.

God hears only from Sanskrit Vedas.

Justice N. Kirubakaran and Justice B. Pugalendhi, in a recent order, said in our country it was made to believe that only Sanskrit is the language of God.

The bench said that different countries and religions have different beliefs and places of worship also vary according to culture and religion.

He said, ‘The local language is used in those places for works related to God.

But in our country, the belief was made that only Sanskrit is the language of God and no other language is equal to it.

Sanskrit is an ancient language in which many ancient kinds of literature have been composed, there is no doubt about it.

But the belief was made in such a way that God would listen to the prayers of his followers only when they recited the Sanskrit Vedas.

The court was hearing a plea seeking a direction to government officials to conduct consecration with the recitation of Tirumuraikal, Tamil Saiva Mataram, and Saint Amaravati Atrangarai Karurar at a temple in the state’s Karur district.

The judges said that every language spoken by the people is the language of God.
