Taliban Fought With America For 20 Years
Taliban fought with America for 20 years, know from where the funding was sourced by the Taliban.
The Taliban capture in Afghanistan is a matter of debate among experts. Apart from this, there is a lot of discussion about funding the Taliban.
Sergio Restelli in an article in The Times of Israel said that even after 20 years of unremitting efforts to root out the Taliban.
How did they have the strength and capability? He captured the entire country in a few days with a military attack.
The Times of Israel report said that terrorist groups are unwilling to have transparency and accountability, so these cases require forensic financial intelligence to trace the source of the funds.
Recently, British media organizations have invested deeply in the search for Taliban funding networks.
Taliban fought with America for 20 years: Clearly, the Taliban’s financial network is now more complex than previously thought.
It is also a sophisticated financial network with a disciplined system of taxation that pays for belligerent operations as well as salaries and general services.
Restelli said the Taliban’s annual revenue is estimated to be around US$400 million, although some experts estimate it has increased significantly over the years and is now at US$1 billion.
Along with this, it is also suspected that a major part of the income of the organization is derived from the drug trade.
In fact, the Taliban apparently collects about 10 percent as farming tax from opium farmers and 15 percent as heroin tax from drug smuggling laboratories and smugglers in Pakistan.
This, in itself, is a revenue stream that is around USD 250-300 million.
Restelli said, although contrary to popular belief, it is not actually the opium business at the core of the Taliban’s income.
According to him, in the areas under its control, the Taliban maintains a taxation system to act as a security/protection tax.
