Suvendu Adhikari became the leader of the opposition in the Bengal assembly, said- I will work for the restoration of democracy in Bengal.
Suvendu Adhikari, who defeated Chief Minister and TMC supremo Mamata Banerjee on the high-profile Nandigram assembly seat in Bengal, has been chosen by the BJP as the Leader of the Opposition in the state assembly.
BJP has emerged as the main opposition party for the first time in Bengal. It is worth noting that Suvendu Adhikari, in the assembly will be against the same party, of which he used to be an important part at one time.
Suvendu left the Trinamool Congress and joined the BJP just before the Bengal assembly elections. In view of his experience as an MLA, the BJP leadership has entrusted him with this important responsibility.
BJP leader Mukul Rai was also involved in this race, but since he was elected for the first time as an MLA, the party entrusted this responsibility to Suvendu.
After being elected the Leader of the Opposition, Suvendu said that he would work for the restoration of democracy in Bengal.
Due to the post-election violence, BJP workers have to flee from Bengal to other states. There can be no worse situation than this. They will work towards making Bengal violence-free and peaceful.
Suvendu further said that three things have happened for the first time in this assembly election. First, despite losing the election, no chief minister has been formed.
This is the first time since independence. Secondly, the Congress and the Left Front have not got a single seat for the first time in Bengal and the third thing is that the BJP has got 77 seats in the state for the first time.
