Supreme Court bans ASI survey in Gyanvapi campus till 5 pm on Wednesday, orders Muslim side to go to HC.

A hearing was held in the Supreme Court today on the petition filed by the Muslim side against the ongoing ASI survey in Gyanvapi Masjid premises.

Meanwhile, a bench headed by CJI DY Chandrachud, while hearing the case, stayed the survey going on in the Gyanvapi campus till 5 pm on Wednesday.

At the same time, the Muslim side was ordered to go to the High Court. Actually, the Muslim side, the Hindu side, and the UP government kept their arguments.

The Muslim side demanded a ban on the ASI’s survey. During this, the Supreme Court first sought answers from the UP government.

The UP government replied that no excavation of any kind has taken place. Only mapping and video recording are going on on campus.

Meanwhile, the Muslim side argued that the survey has already been banned. The hearing went on for a long time.

After this, the bench headed by DY Chandrachud ordered the Muslim side to approach the High Court and ordered a stay on the ASI survey till 5 pm on Wednesday.

Let us tell you that the survey of ASI started at 7 am today. Videography and GPR survey was done in the western wall, dome, frame, and campus of the campus.

If the Muslim side wanted, it could have gone to the High Court: UP government.

The Hindu side argued during the hearing that the lower court had ordered the director of the ASI that no damage should be done.

The UP government said that if the Muslim side wanted, they could have already challenged the order of the lower court in the High Court. They have done this intentionally.

On the ASI’s survey in the Supreme Court, the UP government issued a reply saying that only videography and mapping are going on. There will be no excavation of any kind for a week.

There will be no digging in the mosque premises for a week.

During the hearing on the petition, the SG said that if the Muslim side wishes, it can file a petition in the High Court in a day or two.

During the hearing, the CJI said that the UP government told the court that no excavation would happen. Only radar, measurement, and photography will be done.

CJI said that we take on record the statement of ASI that no excavation work will be done for a week. In a week, the Muslim side can approach the High Court.

At the same time, the CJI said that there will be no harm in any way by taking photographs.

Supreme Court Chief Justice Justice DY Chandrachud, Justice Manoj Mishra, and Justice JB Pardiwala’s bench heard the petition.
