Stock Market Opened On The Last Trading Day Of The Year

Stock market opened on the last trading day of the year, the Sensex lost 106 points, Nifty above 13980.

Today, on 31 December 2020 i.e. the last trading day of the year i.e. the stock market opened with a downward trend.

The Bombay Stock Exchange’s flagship index Sensex lost 106.53 points to open at 47639.69.

At the same time, the National Stock Exchange’s Nifty opened 31.70 points down at 13950.30 level.

The stock market closed on the green mark on Wednesday. The Sensex closed up 133.14 points at 47746.22. The Nifty closed at the level of 13981.95 with a gain of 49.35 points.

The stock market opened higher on the previous trading day. The Sensex opened with a gain of 38.72 points at 47,651.80. At the same time, the Nifty opened 11.10 points higher at the level of 13,943.70.

Major stocks of Reliance, Bharti Airtel, ONGC, Maruti, Ultratech Cement, Bajaj Finserv, M&M and Bajaj Auto opened on the green mark today.

IndusInd Bank, NTPC, ICICI Bank, Tech Mahindra, HDFC, Sun Pharma, ITC, Doc Reddy, TCS, SBIHindustan Unilever, HCL Tech, and Asian Paints opened on the red mark.

Approval in the UK of the Covid-19 vaccine developed by AstraZeneca and Oxford University led to a boom in the opening of European share markets.

The UK is the first country to have approved the vaccines of these companies.

The Serum Institute of India (SII) termed the approval encouraging and said the company would now wait for the final approval of the vaccine in India.

The rupee improved 11 paise to 73.31 against the dollar.

The rupee rose 11 paise to close at 73.31 against the dollar on Wednesday in the foreign currency exchange market on the back of continued investment by foreign institutional investors.

According to market sources, the rupee also gained support due to weak dollar in overseas markets.

In the interbank foreign currency exchange market, the domestic currency started at 73.35 against the dollar.

As the business progressed, it climbed further to a high of Rs 73.26. It also touched a low of 73.36 per dollar during trading. The rupee finally closed at Rs 73.31 per dollar.
