Russia: Putin extends the ban on foreign import-export till 2025.

Russian President Vladimir Putin has taken a major decision regarding the import and export of raw materials and goods.

He has signed a decree to ban the import and export of raw materials and goods into the country.

According to the decree, any kind of foreign economic activity in Russia is prohibited till 31 December 2025.

However, there are some such clauses in this decree, which Vladimir Putin can remove whenever he wants.

Earlier, Putin had signed a decree on March 8, 2022, to ban the import and export of raw materials and commodities, news agency reported.

The decree was valid till 31 December, but after recent amendments to the decree, Putin has officially extended the decree till 31 December 2025.

Why was the ban imposed on foreign import-export?

Putin’s intention behind this decision was that Russia’s economy should not be harmed in any way, because the European Union had banned Russia’s crude oil on 5 December.

After which the G-7 countries imposed a price cap of $60 per barrel on Russian crude oil.

Due to this, Putin began to feel that Russia could suffer a lot due to the ban on its oil by the G-7 countries. Keeping this in mind, Putin banned foreign economic activities on March 8, 2022.
