South Africa suffered a blow before the T-20 series against Pakistan, injured captain Tenba Bavuma out.
South Africa’s limited-overs captain Temba Bavuma has been ruled out of the upcoming T20 series against Pakistan due to a Grade One hamstring strain.
Bavuma succumbed to injuries during the third and final ODI against Pakistan on Wednesday. Cricket South Africa announced on Friday that in his absence Heinrich Klassen would lead the Proteas in the four-match T20 series.
South African coach Mark Boucher reported Bavuma’s injury after the third ODI. In the third ODI, Proteas lost by 28 runs and Pakistan won the three-match series 2-1 on Wednesday.
Apart from this, Reeja Hendrikas withdrew from the series after the birth of her child on Tuesday. Dwayne Pretorius is not fit to take part in the series.
He is recovering from a rib fracture. Racy van der Dusen has a muscular vibe. Treatment and monitoring of his injury continue. He is in the team, but there is suspense on playing in the first match.
One-dayers against Pakistan include Aiden Makram, Andile Felukwao, Darian Dupavillone, and Vian Mulder have been retained in the squad for the T20 series.
The South African team is already playing this series without its five key players. Batsmen Quinton de Kock, David Miller, and fast bowler Kagiso Rabada have been released to play in the Indian Premier League.
