South Africa Canceled ODI Series Against Australia

South Africa canceled the ODI series against Australia. The road to direct entry into South Africa’s World Cup is difficult, the T20 league has caused a setback.

South Africa canceled the international ODI series against Australia in January. The board confirmed this on Wednesday.

Australian Cricket said that matches scheduled for January 12, 14, and 17 in Hobart, Sydney, and Perth have been canceled.

Cricket Australia chief executive Nick Hockley said it was disappointing that Cricket South Africa would not be able to play the ODI series in January.

This entire series was part of the ICC Super League, from which the teams will directly qualify for the 2023 World Cup.

South Africa had talked about a change in the date due to the domestic T20 league, but the Australian board expressed its inability to do so.

Now there is doubt about South Africa qualifying directly for the World Cup.

South Africa’s team will play 3 Test matches against Australia in December and January according to the schedule.

Changes have also been made in many other programs of the Australian Board.

On 7 October, the T20 match against West Indies was shifted from Brisbane to Gold Coast while the T20 match against England was shifted from Brisbane to Perth.

At the same time, the women’s T20 match against Pakistan on January 26 will now be played in Hobart instead of Canberra.

30 marks can be deducted.

Every match in the World Cup Super League carries 10 points. South Africa can deduct 30 points for not playing the ODI series.

Talking about the Super League, a total of 13 teams have been included in it. Each team has to play 24 matches.

Top-8 teams including host India will get direct entry. While the other 5 teams have to play the qualifiers. The 2023 ODI World Cup is to be held in India.

England team is on top.

Talking about the points table, the England team is currently on top with 125 points. He has played 18 matches.

Won in 12, while losing in 5. Bangladesh has 120 points in 18 matches and Afghanistan has 100 points in 12 matches.

No other team has reached 100 points so far. Team India has 79 points in 12 matches and is at number 7.

He has won 8 matches while losing in 4. Talking about South Africa, so far it has won only 4 out of 13 matches.

The team is at number 11 with 49 points. In such a situation, deducting the points of 3 other matches will make his path very difficult. The ICC has to decide on the points.
