Sonia Gandhi Will Review Congress’s Organization Election

Sonia Gandhi will review Congress’s organization election and membership campaign, meeting of in-charges convened on March 26.

Congress President Sonia Gandhi, who became active in the wake of the party’s deepening crisis due to the defeat of five states, has now decided to review the organization’s elections and the party’s membership drive.

For this, a special meeting of Congress General Secretaries and in-charges of all the states has been called on 26 March.

The membership drive of the Congress is in its last phase and the organizational elections of the party will start from April-May as per the schedule.

Aim to set a record in the membership campaign.

In view of the challenge of the party’s ever-shrinking ground in the states in the last few years, this time the target has been set to take the membership campaign figures to a record level.

For the Congress leadership, increasing the base of the party’s ideological base has become more important in the time of the current political crisis.

In view of this, both the status and pace of the membership campaign so far will be reviewed in the meeting of the General Secretaries and in-charges of the states.

This meeting has been called by the party’s organization general secretary KC Venugopal, but there are indications that Sonia Gandhi will also attend it.

New Congress National President will be elected in August.

The election of the new national president of the Congress is proposed in the month of August-September and the leaders of the disgruntled G23 camp are pressurizing the high command to hold organization elections.

The leaders of G23 are advocating organization elections at all levels, from block-district and state to AICC.

In such a situation, the importance of membership campaigns and organizing elections of the states has increased a lot.

Demand for the election of party working committee members.

The dissatisfied camp of the Congress has already raised the demand for the election of half the members of the party working committee along with the president.

In this context, the election of AICC delegates to be elected from the states will be important. AICC delegates elect the Congress President.

During the talks held with G23 leaders Ghulam Nabi Azad, Bhupinder Singh Hooda, Anand Sharma, Manish Tewari, and Vivek Tankha in the past.

The Congress leadership had given assurance of implementing the change in the party through organization elections.

Membership campaign not run in last seven years.

The current membership drive for the party has also become important because, for the last seven years, Congress did not run any membership campaign to increase its political base.

Many issues will be discussed in the meeting.

In the meeting of general secretaries and state in-charges, there will also be a discussion about the programs of political movement from the Congress on issues related to inflation, unemployment to the general public.

After the electoral defeat of the Congress, the party high command, which is trying to calm the internal political storm in the party, will hold discussions with senior leaders of Haryana on Friday.

State Congress President Selja will also be present in this meeting with Rahul Gandhi.

Rahul Gandhi, along with former CM Bhupinder Singh Hooda, a key member of party veteran G23 of Haryana, held a separate meeting last week and discussed the organization of the state.

Hooda wants the reins of state Congress.

It is understood that Bhupinder Singh Hooda wants to take the reins of the state Congress into his own hands.

Given Hooda’s political influence and hold, the leadership does not even have the scope to take too much risk to keep the party united in the current circumstances.

A day before Rahul Gandhi’s meeting with Haryana leaders, senior Congress leader of the state Kiran Chaudhary met Sonia Gandhi on Thursday.
