Sheel Vardhan Has Been Appointed As Chief Of CISF

Sheel Vardhan has been appointed as chief of CISF and Atul Karwal NDRF.

Senior IPS officer Sheel Vardhan Singh has been appointed as the head of the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) and Atul Karwal, the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF).

Sheel Vardhan Singh is a 1986 batch IPS officer of Bihar cadre and is currently posted as Special Director in Intelligence Bureau.

According to the order issued by the Personnel Ministry, Sheel Vardhan Singh will continue as the Director-General of CISF till August 31, 2023.

At the same time, Karwal, a 1988 batch IPS officer of Gujarat cadre, has been appointed as the Director-General of NDRF and for this, the post of the chief of the force has been temporarily extended by two years to DG (Director General).

Karwal is currently the director of the Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel National Police Academy located in Hyderabad.

In CRPF, since 2018 till now, 18 comrades have taken their lives, instructions are given to find out the mental and emotional stress.

In the wake of the recent incident of killing of fellow jawans by a Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) jawan in Chhattisgarh.

The country’s largest paramilitary force has directed the responsible officials to ascertain the mental and emotional stress among the jawans. Officials gave this information on Tuesday.

A jawan opened fire on his comrades at a CRPF camp in Chhattisgarh’s Sukma district on Monday, killing four and injuring three others.

This advisory has been issued in the background of this incident. Since 2018, 18 people have lost their lives in 13 incidents of killing of fellow personnel by jawans.

Officials said that the guidelines and measures have been reiterated to detect mental and emotional stress among the jawans.

Six people have died in five such incidents in the force this year. The CRPF Director-General and other senior officers are visiting Chhattisgarh to take stock of the situation in the wake of the incident in Sukma on Monday.

Due to emotional stress, constable Ritesh Ranjan lost control and angrily opened fire on his co-workers.
