Rhea’s second night in Byculla jail, the decision on bail plea today. On the other hand, NCB has opposed the bail of Riya and Shouvik. Apart from Riya Chakraborty and Shauwik, the court also denied bails of Abdul Basit, Zaid Vilatra, Dipesh Sawant, and Samuel Miranda. Rhea was arrested by the Narcotics Control Bureau under Section 16/20 of the NDPS Act on Tuesday night in this case involving Sushant’s death.

The court sent Riya to 14 days of judicial custody till 22 September. Riya filed an application in the Sessions Court on Wednesday through her lawyer after a bail plea was rejected from a Mumbai magistrate court on Tuesday night. On the other hand, Rhea has alleged in her bail plea that she was forced to give a statement during interrogation by NCB. Riya also claimed that she had not committed any crime and was being implicated in the case.

The court’s attention has also been drawn in Rhea’s plea that she is facing investigations of three central agencies simultaneously. This has adversely affected his mental state. Comparing the three other accused in the case with bail, the application states that Riya and her brother have been charged with Section 27 ([A)] of NDPS, while the drug was not recovered from them.

Nine people have been arrested in this case before Riya. These include Rhea’s younger brother Shouvik Chakraborty, Sushant’s former house manager Samuel Miranda, another Sushant’s domestic helper Dipesh Sawant, and six drug peddlers involved in the drug trade. Riya has also been subjected to various sections of the NDPS Act like Shauvik, Samuel, and Deepesh.

A case has been registered against Riya under sections 20B, 27A, 28, and 29 of the NDPS Act. Some of these sections have a punishment of up to 10 years. Riya is also accused of being involved in drug purchases or drug syndicate.
