Recommendation of CBI inquiry against six including former Kerala CM Oommen Chandy just before the election.
A few months before the assembly elections, the Kerala-based CPI (M) -led LDF government has recommended a CBI inquiry into allegations of sexual harassment against former Chief Minister Oommen Chandy and five others.
Congress has termed this decision as politically motivated. Said that the LDF government did not get anything in the matter for five years, but as soon as the elections came close, this trick was done to discredit the opposition.
Chandy said- I am ready to face any kind of investigation
The case is related to a woman accused in the state’s sensational solar panel scam. Chandy has said that he is ready to face any kind of investigation.

Union Minister V Muralitharan has also attacked the Kerala government saying that the CBI inquiry against opposition leaders has been recommended in view of the impending assembly elections.
The CPI-M said – the decision to investigate is not motivated by politics
CPI-in-charge Secretary of State A. Vijayaraghavan has denied the opposition’s allegations. It is said that the decision to investigate the case is not politically motivated at all. It has no meaning with the upcoming election.
Youth Congress burnt effigy of Chief Minister in protest against the decision
The Congress has recently formed a ten-member Election Management Committee for the elections to be held in April-May under Chandy’s leadership in the state.
In protest against the government’s decision, Youth Congress workers took out a procession to the Secretariat on Sunday and burnt an effigy of Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan.
The woman charged in the solar panel scam accused Chandy of rape and sexual harassment.
During the tenure of the Congress-led UDF government, Chandy and other leaders were accused of rape and sexual harassment by a woman accused in the 2012 solar panel scam.
Apart from Chandy, Congress MPs KC Venugopal, Hibi Eden, Adoor Prakash, MLA AP Anil Kumar and BJP leader AP Abdullah Kutty are accused in the case.
A case was filed against Abdullah Kutty in 2014 in the case. He was then a Congress MLA from Kannur. He later joined the BJP. The woman recently wrote a letter to Chief Minister Vijayan demanding a CBI inquiry into the rape case.
