Railway Track Jammed, Four Trains Canceled Due To Farmer’s Protest

Railway track jammed, four trains canceled at two railway stations in UP, Punjab-Delhi route also affected: Farmer’s protest. 

It has been several months since the farmers’ protests across the country. Even today, in many states, farmers are continuously on dharna.

The farmers are protesting about their problems related to the decisions of the Government of India. Every day, farmers close the railway track to the highway due to some or other problem.

Farmers’ protests continue in Punjab, due to which railway tracks have been jammed at some places on Saturday.

Along with agricultural laws, there has also been a dharna on the highway regarding the increase in sugarcane prices.

At the same time, news of the cancellation of four trains has also come to the fore in Uttar Pradesh. Four trains have been canceled at two railway stations in UP due to farmers’ protests.

Four trains were stopped on Friday at Moradabad and Bareilly railway stations in Uttar Pradesh due to farmers’ protests.

Two trains each were affected at both stations. Rail services were disrupted due to the protest, causing considerable difficulty for passengers to reach their respective destinations.

Meanwhile, a railway official said that five counters have been set up at Moradabad railway station where passengers can take a refund for their tickets.

Speaking to media on the matter, JK Thakur, a railway official at Moradabad railway station said, “In view of the protest of the farmers, two trains have been canceled in Moradabad and two in Bareilly.

We have opened 5 counters for a refund of passengers.

A passenger at a refund counter at Moradabad railway station said, “We were asked to vacate the train as it was told that the train would not go ahead. I have come to cancel my ticket and get a refund.

The protest is related to protests by farmers against three newly enacted agricultural laws at various borders of the national capital since November 26 last year.

The bills are:  Farmers Produce Trade and Commerce (Promotion and Facilitation) Act, 2020;

Farmers’ Empowerment and Protection) Agreement on Price Assurance and Agricultural Services Act 2020 and the Essential Commodities (Amendment) Act, 2020.

Farmer leaders and the Center held several rounds of talks but none were considered successful, which could have ended the protests.

Earlier on Friday, farmers blocked the national highway and railway track in Jalandhar, Punjab, demanding that the minimum support price (MSP) for sugarcane be declared.

Due to this, bus services from Jalandhar to Amritsar, Ludhiana, and Chandigarh were affected on the Delhi-Amritsar National Highway.

Hundreds of people were seen waving farmers’ union flags and shouting slogans against the government on NH 1 in protest scenes. 32 Kisan Sangh’s gathered for this protest.

They have also blocked the railway track near Dhanowali village, due to which Shane Punjab Express (Amritsar to Delhi) was stopped at the station in Jalandhar.

At least seven other trains, including the SVDK Vande Bharat Express, were also affected.

Railway track jammed: Even today in Jalandhar, farmers are sitting on dharna on the highway and railway track.

In Jalandhar, the farmers’ protest against the demand for support price of sugarcane will start from Friday and will continue on Saturday.

Due to the indefinite dharna demonstration, the traffic system has deteriorated due to the farmers’ dharna on the national highway and railway track.

The highway will be completely jammed on the National Highway.

Due to the sit-in on the railway track, more routes of about two dozen trains have been diverted or canceled, due to which people may have to go through a lot of trouble.

The police administration has diverted the traffic.

At the same time, in view of the farmers’ agitation, the Railways has decided to cancel 13 special trains.

Harimohan Singh, Senior DCM of Ambala Railway Division said that it has been decided to cancel 13 trains running from August 20. Due to this, the passengers were forced to wander.

Railway track jammed: Passengers of Delhi-NCR also have trouble.

Several trains of Northern Railway, including Delhi-bound Jammu Tawi Rajdhani and Uttar Sampark Kranti, were canceled on Friday.

Railway officials say that again the workers of the Kisan Union are staging a sit-in on the railway track near Jalandhar, which has affected the movement of trains.

The route of Vande Bharat, Amritsar-New Delhi Shatabdi Express, Amritsar-New Delhi Express coming from Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Katra to New Delhi had to be changed.

New Delhi-Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Uttar Sampark Kranti, New Delhi-Jammutvi Rajdhani Express (both sides), and Delhi Sarai Rohilli-Jammutvi Duronto Express (both sides) have been canceled.
