Karnataka’s Mandya district administration has beefed up security in the city in view of the VHP and other Hindu organizations calling for worship at the disputed Jamia Masjid in Srirangapatna.

In view of the seriousness of the matter, apart from the district police, Karnataka Reserve Police has also been deployed in Srirangapatna.

Meanwhile, Bajrang Dal and VHP workers on motorcycles carrying saffron garlands and flags passed through the disputed mosque area raising slogans of Jai Shri Ram.

Shri Ram Sena chief Pramod Muthalik criticized the ban. Muthalik said, ‘Inside the mosque, there is a Ganapati temple, a lake, and a well.

Despite this, madrassa is being run there. It is wrong to offer Namaz there. They should be stopped. They should be thrown out. I condemn the BJP government for stopping the protest.

Demand for a survey of the mosque.

Hindu organizations have claimed that before Jamia Masjid there was an Anjaneya temple. Tipu Sultan, who ruled in the 18th century, demolished the temple and built a mosque in its place.

The organization has also demanded a survey of the disputed Jamia Masjid by submitting a memorandum to the district officials.

If the claim is found to be true, a request has been made to hand over the Anjaneya temple to the Hindus.
