Amid intensified political activities in the state after Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha’s visit to Delhi, the central government may soon hold a meeting with various mainstream political parties in Jammu and Kashmir.
There has been constant behind-the-scenes dialogue on the issue between the representatives of the central government and leaders of several other mainstream parties, including the National Conference, PDP, who have a base in the Kashmiri Valley.
Although no one is ready to speak openly about this meeting, if the circumstances are favorable, it can happen by the end of this month. This meeting will be all-party and Prime Minister Narendra Modi can also attend it.
Only after this meeting will a decision on important issues like the grant of full statehood to Jammu and Kashmir and assembly elections be taken.
Mainstream political parties including NC, PDP, CPI(M), Awami National Conference, People’s Conference are opposing the Jammu and Kashmir Reorganization Act.
They are demanding restoration of the constitutional status before August 5, 2019, and for this, they have formed the People’s Alliance for Gupkar Declaration (PAGD).
The political activities of these parties are also restricted to some extent in order to maintain law and order. Due to this, there is a political deadlock and a zero-like situation in Jammu and Kashmir.
However, the central government has tried to overcome this impasse through BJP, Jammu Kashmir Apni Party, and some other parties.
Both sides have understood that the confrontation will prove to be negative not only for both but also for the changes that have taken place in Jammu and Kashmir.
According to sources engaged in the mission to completely restore the political process in Jammu and Kashmir.
People’s Conference chairman Sajjad Gani Lone and Jammu and Kashmir Apni Party chairman Altaf Bukhari are also in constant touch with the Center in this regard.
He said that National Conference Vice President Omar Abdullah is also on a Delhi visit. He said that Dr. Farooq Abdullah has not indicated to join the process of delimitation just about a fortnight ago.
The meeting of the PAGD in Srinagar two days ago and the subsequent announcement by Dr. Farooq Abdullah that he was ready for talks with the Center should also be considered as a link in this series.
Even today, PDP’s chief spokesperson Suhail Bukhari has spoken of abstaining from the process of delimitation instead of talking against constitutional changes in Jammu and Kashmir.
Delimitation Commission directed to complete the work soon: Meanwhile, the Central Government has also directed the Delimitation Commission to complete its work soon.
The Delimitation Commission was constituted under the chairmanship of Justice Retired Ranjana Desai in February 2020 under the Jammu and Kashmir Reorganization Act 2019.
The Delimitation Commission will also visit Jammu and Kashmir soon and discuss the issue of delimitation with representatives of various political parties and social organizations.
PM Modi may held meeting : These issues can be discussed in the meeting.
Sources said that in the meeting, NC, PDP, CPI(M), People’s Conference, and other political parties will raise the issue of adequate security of their leaders along with allowing smooth political activities in the plaintiffs.
Issues like restoration of full statehood to Jammu and Kashmir, early assembly elections in Jammu and Kashmir, and release of political people will be discussed.
What are the meanings of the success of the meeting:
If everything is favorable in the meeting, it will not only help in normalizing the situation in Jammu and Kashmir but will also thwart Pakistan’s propaganda about Kashmir at the international level.
Apart from this, the central government will be able to send a message through the success of this dialogue that the change of August 5, 2019, is completely acceptable to everyone in Kashmir.
