PM Modi dedicates a generation ethanol plant of Indian Oil to the nation, farmers will benefit.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi dedicated the second generation ethanol plant of Indian Oil Corporation Limited to the nation at Panipat, celebrating 10 August 2022 as World Biofuel Day.
The Prime Minister dedicated the new bio-power plant of IndianOil to the nation through video conferencing.
Union Minister Hardeep Singh Puri and Union Minister of State for Petroleum and Natural Gas and Labor and Employment, Rameshwar Teli were also present.
Indian Oil’s second-generation 2G ethanol plant at Panipat is based on state-of-the-art indigenous technology.
This will add a new chapter to the Waste to Wealth efforts in India by generating 30 million liters of ethanol annually using 2 lakh tonnes of paddy straw ‘parali’ for blending with motor spirit petrol.
This is the first plant of its kind in Asia.
PM Modi dedicates a generation ethanol plant of Indian Oil to the nation: The plant will generate employment opportunities.
The ethanol produced from this plant will be blended with motor spirit ‘Petrol’ to meet the Government of India’s target of 20 Ethanol Blended Motor Spirit EBMS.
More than 200 direct employment opportunities will be created for operating the plant, set up at a cost of Rs 909 crore, at a distance of about 1.5 km from IndianOil’s Panipat Refinery and Petrochemical Complex.
2 lakh tonnes of paddy straw will be collected from 90 thousand farmers.
Many social, economic, and environmental benefits will accrue from this project. The collection of agricultural residues from farmers will help in increasing their direct income.
The feedstock of the plant annually requires about 2 lakh tonnes of paddy straw stubble. The stubble will be collected from around 90,000 farmers.
This stubble will be collected through a decentralized collection depot within a radius of 60 km.
This sourcing process will create about 1050 jobs in the economic activities of the region, which will boost the local economy.
