Simultaneously, Reliance Industries Limited and its associate BP Plc have increased the price of gas from US$ 9.92 to US$ 12.6 per mmBtu. The government fixes the price of gas every six months.
Natural gas is used as a raw material.
It is worth noting that natural gas is the major source material for making fertilizers as well as for electricity generation.
It is also used to produce CNG, as well as piped natural gas (PNG) ie cooking gas. The increase in the prices of natural gas is expected to increase the prices of CNG and PNG.
Also, due to the increase in the price of natural gas, the cost of electricity generation will also increase.
But it will not have any significant effect on the consumers. Because the share of electricity generated from gas is very small.
