Odisha: BJD leader shot dead in Ganjam. The sensation has spread in the area after the killing of the former block president and BJD leader Devraj Sahu (52) of Begunipada in Ganjam district in Odisha in broad daylight.

The accused shot seven shots in the head and chest of Biju Janata Dal leader Devraj, who died on the spot. The murder is due to political enmity or due to personal enmity. At the moment, it is not entirely clear. The police are investigating the incident by registering a case.

On Wednesday, Devraj was drinking tea at a tea shop in Sumandul Bazaar under Kodla police station in the district. At the same time, five accused came here from a car and escaped after killing Devraj.

As soon as the information is received, Ganjam SP Brijesh Rai has reached the spot with the team force and has investigated the incident and has formed a team under the leadership of four police officers and two SDPOs.

He said that the accused would be arrested as soon as possible. What is the reason behind the murder of Devraj Sahu, it will be clear only after investigation. Devraj’s house is in Mohanpur village of Sumandul Panchayat area under Begunipada block.

When Ramakrishna Patnaik was an MLA from Kodla assembly constituency, Devraj Begunipada was the president of the block.

He was block president from 2002 to 2006 and at present, he was active in politics as a senior member of BJD. His brother’s wife Santhoshini Sahu is the sarpanch of present-day Sumandul Panchayat.

Like every day, Devraj was sitting in a tea shop at Sumandul crossroads and talking to some people. At the same time, five people came from one car, two people came down before the car and started abusing Devraj.

After this, two more people got down from the car and fired indiscriminately on Devraj. The accused had fired more than 10 rounds. A seven-round bullet is in Devraj’s body. There was silence in the market after the incident.

On receiving the information, Kodla police station officer Devashish Mahanti and in-charge of Begunipada police post-Dipti Ranjan Behera reached the spot.

After this, in addition to Ganjam, SP Thakur Prasad Patra, Purushottampur SDPO Seema Swain, station in-charge of the surrounding police station reached the spot.

Ganjam SP Brijesh Rai himself also reached the spot and inspected the situation while talking to the family members and assured the accused to arrest them soon.

Kavisurya Nagar legislature Latika Pradhan, Zilla Parishad member Manoj Kumar Pandi, BJD block president Vijay Kumar Dora, Trinath Bhuyan and many BJD leaders and activists also reached the spot.

The legislature said that former block president Devraj was an active member of the BJD. The legislature has requested Ganjam SP to immediately arrest those involved in the incident.
