Now terrorists will not be able to hide in the crowd, cameras equipped with FRT technology will be installed: Militancy in Kashmir.

It will not be easy for the terrorists and their comrades to hide in the crowd or to live in disguise.

They will be identified as soon as they get the slightest glimpse and will be in the custody of the security forces in the next few minutes.

Jammu and Kashmir Police have decided to install state-of-the-art cameras equipped with facial recognition technology FRT in all sensitive areas and major cities of the state.

Initially, these cameras will be installed in Srinagar.

Highly placed sources said that these cameras will be installed in the next few months.

Although the police are already using around 300 CCTV cameras for surveillance in public places and sensitive areas in Jammu and Kashmir, these cameras do not have FRT.

Police are going to use FRT cameras keeping in mind the changing security scenario and the challenges of the future.

He said that the issue of installation of these cameras has also been discussed in the meeting of Jammu and Kashmir Integrated Headquarters chaired by Union Home Minister Amit Shah recently.

Sources said that the Jammu and Kashmir Police will also take the help of Srinagar Municipal Corporation and Smart City Project Srinagar to reduce the cost of installation of FRT cameras.

Delhi and Telangana Police in the country are already using FRT for surveillance and identity verification.

A high official of the Jammu and Kashmir Police said that FRT technology will help us in preventing terrorist attacks and catching terrorists.

He said that as soon as information is received about the activity of a terrorist or his overground worker in a particular area, tracking and recording of his activities will be done by collecting all the necessary information about him from the database.

A senior police officer said that in the prevailing circumstances, after a particular incident, related photographs and footage are sent to the Forensic Science Laboratory for examination.

But FRT is technically superior in many respects to FSL.

Photos of almost all the terrorists with the police: Central Kashmir Range DIG Sujit Kumar said that all the Range DIGs have been included in the task force formed in this context.

We have pictures of almost all terrorists, criminals, stone pelters, and overground workers. FRT will be helpful in locating them.

With the help of this, we can trace all the notorious and prominent terrorists and their overground workers and make them inactive.

Ready to cooperate with security agencies: Deputy Mayor.

Srinagar Deputy Mayor Parvez Ahmed Qadri said that the concerned security agencies and administration have approached us regarding the installation of state-of-the-art cameras equipped with FRT in different parts of Srinagar.

We are ready to cooperate with everyone for maintaining the law and order situations and the safety of life and property of common people.

This is how FRT technology works: FRT marks a particular person by assessing their facial features, bone structure, eyes, nose, ears, jaws on the basis of their picture.

FRT can also identify an individual on the basis of body language. Various security agencies are using FRT to gather necessary leads and identify suspects in their investigation.

At present, security agencies in 180 countries use this technology to track down criminals.

Human fingerprints and DNA do not change, but to recognize the face, the age of the person concerned, the surgery has to be taken into account.
