Indian Army’s Advanced Radar System Ready to Counter Drone Attacks
Now Even a Bird Won’t Escape: Indian Army to deploy advanced radar systems on northern and western borders to counter rising drone attacks from Pakistan. Integrated with Akashtir Air Defense, the system can track 100 targets simultaneously and secure the skies.
During Operation Sindoor, Pakistan carried out several drone attacks on India under the cover of night. While the Indian Army successfully shot down most of these drones in the air, some managed to cross the border and reach residential areas. Taking serious note of this threat, the Army has now decided to deploy an advanced radar system to eliminate every drone intrusion.
The Indian Army is preparing to install state-of-the-art surveillance radar systems along the northern and western borders. These radars will have powerful detection capabilities, capable of spotting and tracking even the most sophisticated enemy drones and neutralizing them mid-air.
The newly designed radar will operate using Radar Cross Section (RCS) technology, which enables it to detect, track, and destroy aerial threats with precision. This radar system will be fully integrated with the Army’s Akashtir Air Defense Network, ensuring round-the-clock protection.
To strengthen the defense mechanism, the Army has invited proposals for advanced equipment, including:
45 Low Level Light Weight Radar (Enhanced) (LLLR-E)
48 Air Defense Fire Control Radar–Drone Detectors (ADFCR-DD)
10 Low Level Light Weight Radar (Improved) (LLLR-I)
This new defense network will act as a comprehensive surveillance shield, ensuring no drone threat goes undetected.
Once deployed, the advanced radar system will have a monitoring range of up to 50 kilometers. From the heights of the Himalayas to the deserts of Rajasthan and coastal regions, the radar will provide impenetrable protection. It can simultaneously track 100 aerial targets, ensuring real-time monitoring and quick response to any Pakistani drone attack or cross-border infiltration attempt.
With this step, India is moving towards building a drone-proof defense shield, ensuring that not even a bird can cross the border without detection.
