The New twist in the Sunanda Pushkar Death Case. Congress leader Shashi Tharoor, accused in Sunanda Pushkar’s death case, has sought acquittal.

Tharoor said in the special court at Rouse Avenue that no reason for Sunanda’s death could come up in the investigation of the agencies, so he should be acquitted in the case and the death should be treated as an accident.

Shashi Tharoor’s lawyer told the court that the country’s well-known doctors and experts investigated, but none could come to a correct conclusion. In such a case, the accused in this case should be acquitted.

On the night of 17 January 2014, Sunanda Pushkar was found dead in a hotel room.

The Delhi Police had registered a murder case in this regard, but after a lengthy investigation filed a charge sheet against Sunanda’s husband Shashi Tharoor for abetment and torture for suicide.

The arguments on the charges have not yet been completed and the court will hear the case again on 23 March.

Former Union Minister and Sunanda Pushkar’s husband Shashi Tharoor has argued that several investigations have been done by the experts but they have not given a ‘definite opinion on the cause of death’.

In such a situation, this death should be considered an accident and they should be acquitted from this case.

Senior advocate Vikas Pahwa, appearing on behalf of Shashi Tharoor, pleaded for the acquittal of him (Tharoor) in the case.

He told the court that there was no evidence against him to prove the offense punishable under Section 498A or 306 of the IPC. The lawyer said that Sunanda’s death should be considered accidental.

Sunanda Pushkar was found dead on the night of 17 January 2014 at a hotel in the city.

During the investigation, several reports have been made before the Investigating Officer (IO) on behalf of experts, but there was no definite opinion on the causes of death.

Even after years of investigation by the Delhi Police, the prosecution has failed to identify the cause of death. Pahwa told the court that Pushkar was suffering from various ailments at the time of his death.
