In this sequence, Maratha Kshatrap Sharad Pawar is being considered as the most strong contender for the new chairperson of UPA, replacing Sonia.
At present, the leaders of opposition parties hardly doubt Pawar’s ability to handle the leaders of regional parties. But NCP has issued a statement dismissing these speculations outright.
NCP rejects reports
Mahesh Tapase, the chief spokesperson of the Nationalist Congress Party, described media reports of such speculation as motivated by bias.
He said that such reports have been issued with vested interest to divert attention from the farmers agitation.
The Nationalist Congress Party has seen unsatisfactory news on behalf of NCP President Sharad Pawar taking over as the UPA Chairperson.
The party clarifies that there has been no discussion among UPA partners about any such proposal.
Congress is also not giving discussions
Not only this, the Congress is also not paying much attention to the talk of Pawar becoming the new head of UPA.
According to reports, there may be an election in January-February for the new president of Congress. Not only this, but the period of political activism of Sonia Gandhi is also being predicted to stop.
The reason is that for a long time, Sonia has been struggling with health challenges… many times she has also gone to the hospital.
Last month, due to increased asthma in the bad air of Delhi, she also stayed in Goa for a few days. For this reason, Pawar is being seen as a new alternative to the UPA chief.
Pawar’s skill still sharp
There are also indications that Rahul Gandhi may be re-elected as the Congress President.
In such a situation, if Rahul is the head of UPA, there is little chance that Trinamool Congress chief Mamata Banerjee can hardly agree on this.
However, Pawar, who defeated the entire BJP machinery in Maharashtra last year and made the Shiv Sena-NCP-Congress government, once again proved that his political skills are still at stake.
Citing these reasons, Pawar is being described as a natural contender to the UPA in the reports. Although Pawar is also going to reach the age of 80.
Congress will not leave the reins of opposition politics
The argument also is that Pawar has a good relationship with both Sonia and Rahul Gandhi. But on the talk of Pawar becoming UPA chief, Congress sources said that there is no such possibility.
How will the Congress leave the reins of opposition politics by handing over the leadership of the UPA to Pawar and this is possible only when Pawar merges his party with the Congress, which is unlikely.
Shiv Sena leader Sanjay Raut, when asked about Pawar’s speculation about becoming the head of the UPA, said that anything is possible in politics. As far as Pawar is concerned, he is capable of leading the country.
