NASA launches Landsat 9 and four small satellites.
The US National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) launched a powerful satellite Landsat 9 at 11.41 pm Indian time on Monday night.
Along with this, four small satellites have also been launched. This launch was done from the Atlas V rocket from the Space Force Base in California.
NASA launches Landsat 9: CUTE (Colorado Ultraviolet Transit Experiment).
CuPID (Cusp Plasma Imaging Detector).
Cesium Satellites 1 and 2.
CuPID will study the limits of Earth’s magnetic field to see how energy from the Sun can break through our planet’s magnetic shield.
At the same time, CUTE will train its telescope which will work outside the solar system.
Apart from this, Cesium Satellites 1 and 2 are experimental satellites of the aerospace company CesiumAstro which are proficient in space communication.
The Landsat 9 satellite is a joint mission of NASA and USGS (US Geological Survey) that will carry forward the first Landsat mission launched in 1972 to monitor the Earth’s surface and coastal areas.
According to NASA, this latest satellite of the Landsat series will be found from Landsat 8 (sister satellite) which is collecting the picture of the entire planet.
This mission is helping in the management of agriculture, in addition to water resources, in alerting them to natural calamities.
NASA has given this information by tweeting. In fact, NASA’s Landsat program is going on in collaboration with USGS to understand and monitor the changing Earth for nearly 50 years.
