The sacred cave shrine of Mata Vaishno Devi in Katra, Jammu & Kashmir, has witnessed an overwhelming influx of devotees during the ongoing Navratri festival. As of the latest reports, over 170,000 pilgrims have undertaken the arduous 13-kilometer journey to pay their respects to the revered Goddess. Chants of “Jai Mata Di” and devotional hymns echo through the shrine, creating an atmosphere of profound spiritual fervor.
Navratri, a nine-night festival dedicated to the worship of Goddess Durga, commenced on September 22 and runs until October 1. This period holds immense significance at the Mata Vaishno Devi Temple, attracting the highest number of devotees annually. The pilgrimage is progressing smoothly, with an increasing number of devotees arriving each day.

Sachin Kumar Vaishya, Chief Executive Officer of the Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board, reported that over 170,000 devotees have already visited the temple. He assured that the pilgrimage is proceeding without any major incidents and encouraged more pilgrims to undertake the journey to seek the Goddess’s blessings.
To facilitate the influx of devotees, the Shrine Board has implemented extensive arrangements. Volunteers have been deployed to guide pilgrims, manage the expected crowds, and ensure the smooth flow of pilgrims along the pilgrimage route. Additionally, advanced technology has been employed to enhance safety and security, including real-time monitoring and effective crowd management measures
The shrine has been beautifully adorned with indigenous and foreign flowers, and large pandals have been set up in the Bhawan area for the auspicious occasion. The decorations, combined with the spiritual ambiance, have made the pilgrimage experience even more memorable for the devotees.

Devotees from across India have shared their experiences. Suresh Kumar from Ujjain expressed his determination to visit the shrine despite challenges posed by weather conditions and train disruptions. He believes that the Goddess’s call ensured their arrival during this sacred period. Similarly, Veena Rai from Karnataka, who has been visiting the shrine annually for the past seven years, emphasized the importance of the pilgrimage and the blessings received during Navratri.
