Marakkar: Digital Premiere On Prime Video On December 17
Marakkar: Suniel Shetty and Mohanlal starrer ‘Marakkar’ to have its digital premiere on Prime Video on December 17.
The adventure period drama film Marakkar – The Lion Of Arabian Sea starring Malayalam cinema superstar Mohanlal is now being streamed on OTT platform Amazon Prime Video after its release in theatres.
Originally made in the Malayalam language, the film will stream in Hindi along with Tamil and Telugu.
The film is titled Marakkar – Lion of the Arabian Sea in Hindi. Suniel Shetty has also played an important role in Marakkar.
Veteran director of Indian cinema Priyadarshan has directed the film and also wrote it. Marakkar is coming to Prime on December 17.
Significantly, the film was released in theaters on 2 December. That is, just 15 days after the theatrical release, Marakkar will come on the OTT platform.
Apart from Mohanlal and Suniel Shetty, Marakkar also stars Arjun Sarja, Manju Warrier, Keerthy Suresh, Late Nedumudi Venu, and Pranav Mohanlal in pivotal roles.
Antony Perumbavoor of Ashirwad Cinemas has produced the film.
Grandly presented on screen, the film is a period drama, a biopic of Kunjali Marakkar-IV, one of India’s greatest naval chiefs.
The film tells the story of a historic battle against Portuguese raiders led by a spunky sailor from the Malabar Coast, who later became the naval commander of King Zamorin of Calicut.
It is the most expensive film ever made in Malayalam cinema, winning awards in the categories ‘Best Feature Film’, ‘Best Special Effects’ and ‘Best Costume’ at the 67th National Film Awards in October.
Before the release, Mohanlal had claimed through social media that the film has collected 100 crores only through advance booking.
He had shared a poster, in which it was written – India’s first film, which has raised 100 crores through advance booking worldwide.
Along with Malayalam, the film was also released in theatres, in Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, and Kannada. The film’s trailers in all languages were released on 30 November.

This historical film is set in the folklore of Kerala.
