Malegaon Blast Verdict: Court Acquits All 7 Accused as 39 Witnesses Retract Statements

Malegaon Blast Verdict: In a major turn, the NIA court acquits all 7 accused in the Malegaon blast case as 39 witnesses retract statements citing police pressure and fabrication. 39 witnesses turned their statements, and then the NIA court gave a big decision; many shocking revelations were also made.

The court has acquitted all seven accused in the Malegaon bomb blast case. In this case, in the last few years, many witnesses turned their earlier statements. They claimed that the police and ATS had pressurized them to give statements. The court has cited huge contradictions in the evidence and changed testimony by the witnesses as the reason behind the decision to acquit the seven accused. Let us tell you, a total of 39 witnesses had turned their statements in this case.

Malegaon Blast Verdict: Witnesses called old statements wrong

These witnesses had blamed the accused in their earlier statements to the police ATS, but now in the court, they said that their statements were taken under pressure and they had not said so.

From 2021 till now, when these witnesses appeared in the special court of NIA, they called their old statements given to the police wrong. Many witnesses even said that the ATS had fabricated their statements.

What did the judge say in his decision?

Judge AK Lahoti, who was hearing the case, said in his decision that the prosecution’s story was full of contradictions and weak statements. He said, “The witnesses retracted their old statements and said that whatever they had said earlier was not correct. Neither the conspiracy nor any secret meeting was proved.”

Out of the 71 witnesses presented against Lieutenant Colonel Purohit, about 20 witnesses denied his role in the court. A witness who was a two-wheeler agent had earlier told the police that he had sold a bike with a particular number, which was used in the bomb blasts.

What did the witnesses say now?

But, later in court, he said that he did not remember the number. However, the prosecution says that the statement made before the forensic investigation is proven correct. Another witness also told the court that he was not aware of any transaction involving accused Ajay Rahiarkar.
