IPL 2022: Shock to Punjab Kings ahead of the mega auction, batting coach resigns.
Before the Indian Premier League 2022 (IPL 2022), the mega auction is to be held on 11 and 12 February i.e. Friday and Saturday.
Earlier, the team of Punjab Kings (PBKS) has suffered a major setback. Former veteran spinner Anil Kumble is the head coach of this team.
Meanwhile, former Team India opener Wasim Jaffer has resigned as the batting coach. He has given this information on Twitter.
He was associated with the franchise in IPL 2020 and was part of the Kumble-led sports staff.
I do well, remember in prayers.
Let us tell you that after retiring from cricket, Jaffer remains very active on Twitter. His posts and memes are well-liked.
He gave information about the resignation of the batting coach of Punjab Kings in a very strange way.
In his tweet, he posted a picture of the song ‘Accha Chalta Hoon, Duaoon Mein Yaad Rakna’ from the film Ae Dil Hai Mushkil, sung by Ranbir Kapoor.
Along with this, the lyrics of the song have also been written. Apart from this, the former opener wished the entire team including coach Anil Kumble good luck for IPL 2022.
Poor performance in the last two seasons.
During his two-year stint with the Punjab franchise, Jaffer worked with KL Rahul Mayank Agarwal and T20 legend Chris Gayle.
The Punjab team performed poorly in the last two seasons. IPL finished sixth in the points table in both 2020 and 2021.
Rahul is not with Punjab Kings.
The franchise, co-owned by Bollywood superstar Preity Zinta, will be eyeing a better team in the mega auction after a poor show in the last few seasons.
KL Rahul is no longer with the team. He had joined the new franchise Lucknow Supergiants in a pre-draft.
Retained two players.
Punjab Kings has retained only two players. These two players are Mayank Agarwal (Rs 12 crore) and uncapped left-arm pacer Arshdeep Singh (Rs 4 crore).
The Punjab Kings have Rs 72 crore in their purse for the mega auction. There are 23 slots vacant in the team. A maximum of eight foreign cricketers can participate.
