IPL 2020 Title Sponsor Is Not Completely Domestic
IPL 2020 title sponsor is not completely native, CAIT expresses displeasure with BCCI. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) had suspended a deal with Chinese mobile company Vivo as the league’s main sponsor for the 2020 season of the Indian Premier League (IPL), so it seemed that IPL would now get a native tile sponsor. On August 18, IPL got a new sponsor which is indigenous, but Chinese companies are investing in it. In such a situation, again opposing voices have been raised against the BCCI.
In fact, the Confederation of All India Traders (CAIT), an association of retail traders, wrote a letter to the BCCI on Wednesday protesting against the alleged involvement of Chinese investors in the main sponsor of IPL. In a letter to BCCI President Sourav Ganguly, CAT said, “We are deeply saddened to learn that Dream 11 has now been chosen as the sponsor of IPL 2020, with China-based company Tencent Global being one of the major shareholders.” .
BCCI has given Dream XI the right to be the main sponsor of IPL, “We are considering that sponsoring (sponsorship rights) to Dream 11 is nothing but the sentiments of the people of India against China To ignore. CAIT is leading a campaign to boycott China’s goods. ” Chinese goods are being boycotted in India after a violent clash between Indian and Chinese soldiers in eastern Ladakh. For this reason, BCCI canceled the deal with Vivo for this year.
What is the Chinese connection of Dream 11?
CAIT believes that Sporta Technologies Private Limited, which operates Dream 11, is based in Mumbai, but has been invested by Steadview Capital and Tencent Holdings. Both these companies are from China, which, apart from Dream XI, have invested in companies such as Biju, Flipkart, Ola and Hike in India. In such a situation, the Chinese connection of the title sponsor of IPL has been revealed once again.
