India Will Not Get Oil At A Discount From Russia

India will not get oil at a discount: Crude oil has not been cheap. The US and its allies are imposing sanctions on the import of crude oil from Russia.

But despite these restrictions, there is a lot of demand for cheap crude oil from Asian countries like India, and China.

This is the reason why Russia has refused to give concessional rates to Indian oil companies. Russia’s Rosneft company has refused to sign agreements with two Indian companies for cheap crude oil.

Rosneft company says that it has signed agreements with some other countries for the supply of crude oil.

Russian oil is not cheap due to new sanctions.

The European Union, dominated by Britain and the US, last week announced an immediate ban on a new insurance deal for ships carrying Russian oil. 6 month’s discount is given in the current deal.

Sources said the lack of shipping insurance coverage has affected IOC’s purchase of Russian oil despite the deal with Rosneft last year.

The deal gives IOC an option to buy 2 million tonnes of oil from Rosneft on a free on board (FOB) basis.

Insurance and freight increased problems.

Let us tell you that since February 24, Indian refiners are buying Russian oil cheaply. But now there is a change in this scenario.

Now cheap Russian oil is not available to Indian companies. According to experts, earlier companies were giving good discounts.

But now this discount is not available. Insurance companies have reduced offers and discounts are not as good as before, as insurance and freight rates have gone up.

Russia wants to increase its revenue.

On the other hand, Russia wants to increase the country’s revenue through its oil, so that Russia does not have to face a shortage of money in the war against Ukraine.

Russia has managed to continue exporting its oil despite mounting pressure from Western sanctions, affecting Moscow’s revenues.

Simultaneously, the lack of new term supply deals with Rosneft is making Indian refiners buy oil at a higher price.
