India stays away from voting in UN on Russia-Ukraine war, UN Human Rights Council condemns Russian attack on Ukraine.
India once again abstained from voting in the United Nations on Friday over the Russo-Ukraine war.
India did not participate in a vote at the UN Human Rights Council on a proposal to immediately set up an independent international commission to investigate alleged human rights violations and crimes in the aftermath of the Russian attack on Ukraine.
47 members of the Council participated in the vote on a resolution on the ‘Human Rights Situation in Ukraine after the Russian Invasion.
13 countries including India abstain from voting.
32 members voted in favor of it and the motion was accepted. Two countries – Russia and Eritrea – voted against it. 13 countries including India, China, Pakistan, Sudan, and Venezuela abstained from voting.
Countries that voted in favor of the resolution include the US, UK, France, Germany, Japan, Nepal, and the UAE. The resolution strongly condemns Russian aggression against Ukraine.

A day before the Human Rights Commission accepted the resolution, at the 49th session of the Human Rights Commission in Geneva.

India has also targeted Pakistan over the increase in cases of persecution of minorities.
India’s First Secretary at the United Nations Mission, Geneva, Seema Pujani, during the Human Rights Council meeting on Thursday said that Pakistan-trained terrorists are behind the terrorist attacks in India.
They are also supported there. The source of terrorist attacks in other parts of the world is also linked to Pakistani terrorists.
