India and France working on their third joint satellite mission, space cooperation is moving forward rapidly – Sivan.

Sivan, Secretary of the Department of Space, said that many French companies are looking to take advantage of the opportunities created by the recent reforms made in the space sector by the government.

France is India’s largest partner in the space sector. He said this during an event of DST (Department of Science and Technology).

On Friday, a program on the virtual model was presented by the National Council for Science and Technology Communication and ‘Vigyan Prasar’.

According to ISRO officials, ISRO and the French space agency The Space Center for Space Studies (CNES) have launched two joint missions, Megha-Tropics and Saral-Attica. Megha-Tropics started in the year 2011 and Saral-Altica 2013.

Officials said ISRO and CNES have completed the study for realizing the Earth Observation Satellite Mission with the TRISHNA for the Thermal Infrared Imager High-Resolution Natural Resource Assessment.

Now working towards finalizing the arrangement for joint development.

Indo-French space cooperation expected to grow further.

Sivan said that India is also working closely with France on the joint use of scientific equipment in space missions.

Indo-French space cooperation is expanding in many domains, including Space Exploration and the Human Space Flight Program.

Sivan said that Indo-French space cooperation is expected to increase further due to the recent reforms undertaken by the government in the space sector. He said that many French companies want to take advantage of this.
