Hoysala Temples Of Karnataka Nominated For World Heritage

Hoysala Temples of Karnataka included India’s nomination in the list of World Heritage.

The Hoysala temples of Belur, Halebid, and Somanathapura in Karnataka have been included as India’s nomination for the World Heritage List for the year 2022-2023.

Union Culture Ministry gave information about this on Monday. The Sacred Monuments of the Hoysalas have been included in the UNESCO Prospective List since April 15, 2014.

These Sacred Monuments represent one of the highest points of human creative genius and testify to the rich historical and cultural heritage of the country.

India’s Permanent Representative to UNESCO on Monday formally handed over the nomination of Hoysala temples to the Director of World Heritage, Lazare Eloundou.

The first step is to submit the dossier to the World Heritage Centre, which will be followed by a technical examination.

Hoysala Temples of Karnataka included India’s nomination: Once submissions are made, UNESCO will communicate back by early March.

Thereafter site assessment will be done in September/October 2022 and the dossier will be considered in July/August 2023.
