Government opens treasury for SC children, five times more money will be spent in post matric scholarship scheme.
The Central Government has taken a major decision on Wednesday to pursue the children of scheduled castes.
Government opens treasury for SC children: Govt will now spend five times more amount every year than before on welfare of Children coming from the SC category.
Along with this, more than 59 thousand crores will be spent on the scheme operated on it.
The center’s share in this will be more than 35 thousand crores. Through this complete scheme, four crore scheduled class students will be benefited in the next four years.
Of these, about 1.36 crore students will be from the poorest sections.
Educational access will be easy
On the decision of the Cabinet, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said that the cabinet decision taken on the Post Metric Scholarship Scheme will make educational access to the Scheduled Caste youth more accessible.

Big decision in education
The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi has taken this decision regarding the SC Post Matric Scholarship Scheme.
Union Social Justice and Empowerment Minister Thawarchand Gehlot and Union Information and Broadcasting Minister Prakash Javadekar.
While giving information about the decision of the Cabinet Committee said that a big decision has been taken to make the scheduled classes progressively.
Decided to take help of technology
By changing the funding pattern of the scheme, it has been decided to increase the financial assistance provided by more than five times.
While it has also decided to take help of technology to give direct benefits on time. That is, the scholarship will now be sent directly to the students through DBT.
Till now the Center used to give this amount to states and educational institutions.
Through which it used to reach the students. There were complaints of huge disturbances at different levels.
Funding dispute with states resolved
Meanwhile the funding pattern dispute with the states regarding the SC Scholarship Scheme has also been resolved.
Under the new funding pattern, the Center will have a 60 percent share and the state will have to pay 40 percent.
Gehlot said that from the old funding pattern, till now only 11 hundred crores of help was given on an average in this scheme, which will now be increased to six thousand crores every year.
That is, the amount spent on the scheme will increase by more than five times.
Government wants this
For the educational empowerment of SC students, this scholarship scheme has already been in operation since 1944.
But till 2013-14, the gross enrollment ratio of scheduled students studying after tenth was just 17 percent, which has increased to 23 percent in 2018-19.
After this decision, the government aims to increase it to 27 percent.
What is the scheme
Scheduled students are given tuition fees, tuition fees, monthly allowance for keeping and eating, and typewriting allowance.
For research etc. for studies after class X, ie from 11th to higher education, under this scholarship scheme.
