Furniture company Ikea is planning to open its stores in small cities of India with an online business.
Furniture company Ikea (Swedish furniture retailer IKEA) is planning to open its stores in smaller cities in India with its online channel.
The news agency has given this information quoting a senior official of the company.
The Swedish home decor company envisions opening 10 furnishing and home decor stores in India in the last 10 years. Now the company plans to open 15 more stores.
In 2013, the central government approved an investment of Rs 10,500 crore to Ikea to open stores in India.
It currently has three mega format stores in Hyderabad, Navi Mumbai, and Bangalore and two city centers in Mumbai.
Ikea India (furniture retailer IKEA India) Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Susan Pulverer said in an exclusive conversation with the news agency that we have also looked at smaller formats which are relatively large for the Indian retail sector.
Susan Pulverer told about the online expansion that IKEA (furniture retailer IKEA) wants to establish a physical presence as well as do business online.
It is also the best option at present. The company (furniture retailer IKEA) has also conducted some experiments in three cities of Gujarat to explore business opportunities in India online.
The company has found that online business accounts for about 30 percent of the total sales. It increased during the Covid-19 pandemic.
At present, it remains at a high level. IKEA (Swedish furniture retailer IKEA) has made its presence felt in cities like Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Mumbai, Pune, Ahmedabad, Surat, and Vadodara.
Currently, Ikea is offering its customers online products through the website or app.
